Getting Competitive!

Spring is finally here! Which means lots of beautiful sunny afternoons we can spend outside. WE LOVE SPRING! Today we played dodgeball with Rooms 2 and 3. We had never played dodgeball before so we lost our first game, but once we got the hang of things we won one! Even Miss Gardner, Mrs Bedford and Ms Waterman played. We had so much fun. We are going to keep practicing so we can get even better and challenge Room 3 again!

Here are some photos:

Getting our hands dirty!

We have been reading a fantastic book called "Let's Saved the Animals" It has given us some great ideas on cool things we can do to help our environment!

We decided to start by helping the monarch butterflies.

We thought the best way to do this would be to grow some swan plants.

We bought some seeds from Oderings Nurseries. We guessed that the seeds were going to be very small.

And we were right!

We used peat pallets instead of soil. They started off hard and small but when we soaked them in water they ended up looking like this:

They expanded in the water! Now they feel soft and wet.

We each put a seed in our containers.

Now we need to put our seeds in a sunny warm place so they can grow big and strong. The packet says it can take up to 2 weeks for the seeds to germinate but we will be checking them for signs of growth every day!

Keep checking back to see how we are getting on in our mission to save the monarch butterflies!

Now we are 18!

Room One would like to welcome our 3 newest gorgeous class members:

Aiman

Kenta
Sakura

Bringing us to a grand total of 18 and making Room One the coolest class that ever was!

Week 2

This week lots of exciting things are happening! Mrs Moore came in on Tuesday morning to take us for ICT. Here are some photos of us learning how to use a keyboard:

Luka has also been teaching Room 1 how to speak Serbian this week. Here is a video of us saying hello and goodbye.

Snow Day!

In the holidays we were lucky enough to get a big dumping of snow! Many of the children in Room 1 built huge snowmen and had Snowball fights. Here are some photos of Emilie and her sister Hannah (Rm3) playing in the snow:

This is what Yaldhurst Road looks like covered in snow!
What an awesome snowman!

And this is the snowman Miss Gardner and her friend Clara made!

An Update!

It's been a wee while since our last blog post and so much fun stuff has been happening in Room 1.

Last term we went to visit our buddy class and they performed some plays for us. Here are some photos:

When Miss Gardner was away one day, Mrs Roberts came to Room 1. She taught us lots of cool new songs. Here is a video of us singing one with our buddy class.

We love our buddy class and look forward to every Friday!
At the moment our buddies are helping us make papier mache masks! It's hard and messy work so we really appreciate their help!
