Getting our hands dirty!

We have been reading a fantastic book called "Let's Saved the Animals" It has given us some great ideas on cool things we can do to help our environment!

We decided to start by helping the monarch butterflies.

We thought the best way to do this would be to grow some swan plants.

We bought some seeds from Oderings Nurseries. We guessed that the seeds were going to be very small.

And we were right!

We used peat pallets instead of soil. They started off hard and small but when we soaked them in water they ended up looking like this:

They expanded in the water! Now they feel soft and wet.

We each put a seed in our containers.

Now we need to put our seeds in a sunny warm place so they can grow big and strong. The packet says it can take up to 2 weeks for the seeds to germinate but we will be checking them for signs of growth every day!

Keep checking back to see how we are getting on in our mission to save the monarch butterflies!
