Farewell Miss Brown!

This week is Miss Brown's last week at Avonhead School. She is moving to Singapore to teach in a Canadian school. We know she is going to have a great time. Last week we had a special assembly and pancake breakfast for Miss Brown.

The pancakes were DELICIOUS! We wanted to say a big thank you to Ms Waterman and Mrs Todd for making it happen.

Miss Brown and Room 7 were welcomed into the hall by Room 14 and Miss Normanton.
Miss Brown got to sit in a special seat right at the front of the hall. Room 7 stood around her and sang a song about how AMAZING she is.
Next we stood up and sang the Canadian national anthem. Room 1 made Miss Gardner so proud when they sang beautifully at the top of their voices.
After that we watched a slideshow full of photos from all the amazing things Miss Brown has been doing while she's been in New Zealand.
Mrs Law got up next and said heaps of lovely things about Miss Brown.

Room 4 and Mrs Collins made a book for Miss Brown. It is full of really cool things to do with New Zealand so Miss Brown can take it to Singapore with her and never forget us!
Rooms 5, 6 and 8 stood up next and did an awesome haka and song for Miss Brown.
After all of that is was Miss Brown's turn to get up. She was very sad to be saying goodbye. Lots of the teachers, students and parents were very sad to say goodbye to Miss Brown too. There were lots of tears.
We will miss you Miss Brown. We hope you have the most fantastic time imaginable in Singapore!

Maths Fun!

We have been having a lot of fun with maths in Room 1. We are getting so good at managing ourselves during maths time. The Squares, Triangles and Circles all have heaps of amazing games in their group boxes that they have been learning to use this week.

Here are some photos:

Raziel and Emilie are recognising numbers writen on the caterpillars and giving the caterpillars the correct amount of legs which corespond with the number.

Skye, Sai and Anna are learning to instantly recognise the number of fingers a person is holding up.

Well done Anna!

We Love maths!

Week 9 in Room One

Well it's been a wee while since our last post - we've been busy having so much fun in Room 1!

We have had a lot of visitors in Room 1 recently. Luka, Alyssa, Irdina and Amy are all starting school in the next few weeks. Room 1 is getting huge!

Here are some photos of us ordering numbers on our caterpillars.

We have also spent some more time with our awesome buddy class. We even went and visited Room 13 in their class which was so much fun. They showed us how to use the computers to play awesome educational games. They took us for a walk around the senior school, and we made some fabulous drawings with pastels.

Here are some photos from last time Room 13 came to visit.

We have also been doing lots singing and dancing this week. Miss Brown's farewell assembly is coming up soon so we've been working hard to learn some cool new songs. Jump Jam (exercise to music) is one of our new favourite things to do. We do Jump Jam when it's too cold or rainy to run around outside. We love it! We are getting really good at learning the dance moves.
