Reading to the Computer

In Room 1 we are super readers, but we want to get even better! We have been practicing reading books from our browsing boxes to the computer and listening to the way we sound. This is fun and it also helps us to know what we need to work on to become even better readers.

Last week in Room 1 our letter of the week was Bb. We brainstormed lots of words that start with B. We got so many words that we ran out of room. This is our best effort yet. 

We also painted some beautiful butterflies. We folded a piece of paper in half, and painted one side or it. The we folded it back up and smooshed the paint on the other side. When we opened it back up, it was a butterfly!

In Room 1 we know how to be really good friends. We coloured in our bodies and Miss Gardner took a photo of our heads and we stuck them on. They look cool and silly. We learnt about speech bubbles this week too and in our speech bubbles we have written some ways to be a good friend!
Here they are:

Beacuse our letter of the week was Bb we got to bounce black baloons to the beat of the music.

When we were finished dancing we decided to paint a blue B on our black baloons. 

 Then we had to hang our baloons up to dry. We chose to hang them on the playground!!

 We have had so much fun with the letter Bb this week. Stay tuned for next week.

Rabbit Visitor

We had a special visitor in Room 1 last week. A beautiful bunny rabbit named Jolene came to visit us. She lives at Miss Gardner's house and her friend Kelly kindly brought her in to spend the afternoon with us. We picked some grass to feed her. We also feed her broccoli and carrots. We thought her favourite would be carrot, but she actually LOVED broccoli. "She snatched the brocolli out of my hand and she just ran away with it." - Manthan.

We invited Room 3 to join us. We all sat in a big circle and let the bunny run around in the middle. She kept trying to escape!

Jolene ate so much she got tired and needed a rest!

 We had so much fun. Kelly said she would bring Jolene back when she is bigger. She is a Flemish Giant rabbit, so she's going to be massive! We are very excited.

Week 2!

We've been swimming lots this week. We have been practicing kicking, blowing bubbles and putting our heads under.

We also drew this awesome big 1. We used crayons and dye. We all got to colour in our names and then dye them. 

Week 1 in Room 1

A big welcome to Raghav who started school this week.

This week we went swimming with Rooms 3, 2 and 7. It was cold outside the pool, but inside it was warm. We learnt that we can stay warm if we put our shoulders under the water and move around.

A New Year Has Arrived!

Welcome to the Room 1 blog for 2012! 

Our blog is a great place to keep in touch with all the goings in in the classroom and wider school. It will be updated regularly with lots of photos/videos of our recent learning as well as notices and important reminders. 

Dont forget! We will be swimming every day this term so please remember to send your child to school with their named togs and towel in a bag.

Room One is starting off nice and small this year with a grand total of 6 students!
